This Monday’s post “Are You Being Served?” introduced you to the magnificent world of small inmate service companies. These companies do more than fill a niche, they fill important needs and desires of prisoners across the country.
Inmate pen pal services are especially valuable to the incarcerated. They provide connections for friendship and for many guys newfound romances. I know so many guys who have done this. Some have even gotten married.
When I posted my first inmate pen pal ad decades ago, the letters I received from total strangers (see my post Why Your Letters Matter) and the kind words they offered, helped me make it through the toughest part of my incarceration. It was a warm and eye opening experience.
Now, all these years later, I find myself wanting to post another ad. Except this time it’s not because I’m in a dark place, but because I love meeting new people and hearing about their lives. This time someone out there might need a helping hand, and maybe I can pay it forward like people did for me back then. Either way, I know it’ll be fun, because it’s always fun meeting new people.
*Check out one or more of the inmate pen pal sites I mentioned in this week’s post Are You Being Served. Maybe you might want to write someone yourself or know someone who will?
